Empowering Your Digital Asset Future

Step 4

#4 - Installing the Phantom Wallet on your Phone

This is a VERY important step in the process. The Phantom Wallet is the electronic wallet that we will use to send your NFTs to.  This is a self-custody wallet in which you own the keys (12-word seed phrase).

The Phantom Wallet is a very popular wallet that is used within the Solana ecosystem. The wallet can hold all of your NFTs as well as hundreds of different kinds of cryptocurrencies.  You can skip this step if you already have a wallet that can receive Solana and Solana-based assets. Phantom is just a popular and user-friendly wallet that works fine.

ACTION!

1. Using your phone, download the Phantom Wallet from Phantom's website (Phantom.com/download) or scan this QR Code to go to Phantom's download page.

2.  Select "Create a new wallet".  See Image

3. Select "Create a seed phrase wallet".  See Image

4. Enter a password that you will remember. This password is used to unlock your wallet and approve transactions. Review and agree to the Terms of Service. See Image

5. Next you will see a window appear which contains 12 words.  This is your Seed Phrase - the ABSOLUTE key to your wallet and the aspect of your wallet that you NEVER give to anyone.  See Image.

Using the Phantom New Account Form on your clipboard, write these 12 words down and put the page in the envelope. Double check your words (spelling and correct order are imperative!)  This paper and envelope is yours to keep and goes with you. Your paper form remains in your possession and is NOT retained by Genalock.

- Never give your seed phrase to anyone.

- Never publish your seed phrase on the internet.

- Never take photos of your seed phrase or store on any electronic devices.

Absolutely

6. Create user name.  A default name will appear which you can use, or you can create your own name.  The user name is a public name for your account and you can change it at any time.

The user name is NOT used to log into your wallet, it's simply a nickname for your account.  Most people skip this step (just hit "Continue") and change it later if they want. See Image

7. Once you click on Continue, Phantom will create your new wallet and you will see a "Get Started" window.  Click Get Started to continue. See Image

You will now see your new Phantom Wallet!

Phantom can create up to 100 different accounts within the same wallet, so you will see "Account 1" at the top left. This is your first account that is created for you.

Note:  Your 12-word seed phrase is the key to EVERY account you create within this wallet.

In your wallet, scroll down until you see "Solana".  Click on Solana.

You will see:

- The current Solana price and the current Solana chart.

- Buttons below to Receive, Swap, Cash Buy, and More.

These are the features you will use the most when interacting with the wallet and with others as you buy, sell, and trade your digital assets. â€‹â€‹

Click on "Receive".  This will display a QR code and your Public Solana Address for Account #1 (your default account). â€‹

Your Public Solana Address for wallet #1 is a public-facing address that you give to people. Nobody can access your wallet with that address, think of it like your wallet's mailing address.  â€‹

When we send your NFT(s) to you, they arrive to that wallet using that public address. You can copy/paste that address anywhere you like, send it to friends and family, and use that address to move your Solana assets around.

Can I install and use my wallet on my

Phone and PC at the same time

Absolutely!  You can also install Phantom on other devices such as your PC, laptop. and tablet. Instead of creating a "new" account, simply choose the feature "I already have a wallet" and use your 12-word Seed Phrase to establish the wallet on your new device.

You can leave the wallet on as many devices as you want, just be sure to establish a good password and log out of the wallet (reset it) when not in frequent use.

Locating your NFTs

NFTs within your wallet are found by selecting the four-box icon at the bottom of your wallet (Collectables icon). When you click on that icon, you will see all of the collectables you have within that wallet.

If you do not see an NFT that you know is in that wallet, try clicking on "Manage Collection List" to see if your NFT may have been considered as spam and hidden from initial view. This is common when establishing new wallets. You can follow the simple steps there to unhide those NFTs so you can see them.

If you select the NFT, you will see all of the details associated with it (the picture and the metadata). You will also see options to send the NFT to another wallet.

Side Note:  Never interact (Click on or engage with) an NFT that you do not recognize. If you receive an NFT or collectable that you do not recognize (called "dustings" or "Airdrops"), simply hide it from view but DO NOT open it and follow any associated links it may have attached to it. Be careful!

Logging out of your Wallet

When you log out of your wallet, it's called "resetting".  Doing this will completely log you out of the wallet and close it, which means you will need your 12-word seed phrase to access that wallet again.

To log out of your wallet and "reset" it, click on the little icon character next to your user name in the upper left corner.

A new menu will appear along the left side of your screen.

PhantomStep9.png

On the bottom left you will see a Gear icon (settings icon). Click on that icon.

PhantomStep10.png

Next, select "Security and Privacy".  A window will appear with options, and the last option is "Reset App".

This is how you log out of your wallet and close it down. This will close the entire wallet and all accounts associated to it, so be sure you have your 12-word seed phrase handy if you're going to need to get back into that wallet!

PhantomStep11.png

Clicking "Continue" on the Warning Screen will close the wallet. You will need your seed phrase to reopen your wallet. This is the BEST and SAFEST way to close out of your wallet on any electronic device.

PhantomStep12.png

Explore the wallet and look around!

Create as many new accounts within that wallet as you want.  Many people have different wallets (accounts) for different things.  They may have their Solana tokens and cryptocurrencies in one wallet, but use Wallet #2 for their NFTs.  You can have up to 100 different wallets under that single seed phrase, with each wallet having its own public address for interacting with others.

Congrats!!!

You are now ready to receive your NFTs on the Solana blockchain!

Please take the Tablet back to a Genalock Rep

and let them know you are ready to proceed!
